Semi-automatic assembly of chrome trim
Semi-automatic stations developed for the insertion of chrome and black trim pieces onto the weatherstripping of front and rear doors.
SEAL REFERENCE CRADLES
The workstation has mechanized cradles that copy the 3D geometry of the seals and are used for referencing them. They also have presence detection and OK placement indicators for the parts.
WEATHERPROOF OPENING SYSTEM
An automatic system is available for opening the weatherstripping lip, which facilitates the operator’s pre-positioning of the trim. All automatic systems are activated by a two-hand push button, ensuring operator safety.
TRIM INSERTION SYSTEM
A mechanical system with two floating wheels on two axes and curved guides ensures the correct insertion of the trim into the door seal. A color sensor guarantees the correct placement of the trim type. Mirrors are also integrated into the carriage to provide visual assistance to the operator.
PROCESS VISUALIZATION
The assembly stations are equipped with touchscreen HMIs that guide the operator through the operations, displaying the parts counter, cycle time for each cycle, the correct status of all machine detections, and confirmation of successful completion of each part. Each workstation has LH and RH locations for working, automatically activating each side of the machine by rotating the HMI.
