Gurpea Group has acquired Teknics, a Catalan company specializing in industrial engineering and automation, in a transaction that strengthens the group’s presence in Catalonia and significantly expands its technological, industrial, and engineering capabilities.

With the addition of Teknics, the Gurpea Group now has 375 employees, 9,000 m² of production facilities, and five branch offices and production sites. The group expects to exceed 50 million euros in revenue by 2027.

The transaction provides Teknics with the industrial, organizational, and financial backing of a diversified group, increasing its capacity to undertake larger and more complex automation projects and strengthening its ability to deliver results from the earliest engineering phases through installation and final commissioning.

Teknics brings the backing of a broader industrial and financial structure, while Gurpea adds knowledge, technology, and expertise in new sectors and technologies. For current Teknics clients, the integration preserves the teams, technical expertise, facilities, after-sales service, and usual points of contact, while gradually incorporating the additional resources and capabilities of the Gurpea Group.

Modular Automation and Custom Projects

From a technological standpoint, the operation combines two complementary engineering models. Teknics It brings its expertise in modular and configurable industrial solutions, particularly in sectors such as medical, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and consumer goods, while Gurpea has extensive experience in developing custom-designed and manufactured automation solutions for sectors such as automotive, food, pharmaceutical, electronics, and other industrial fields.

This combination will make it possible to expand the scope, types of projects, and available solutions, ranging from configurable and scalable systems to large-scale installations developed specifically for a production process.

This integration will also make it possible to simultaneously increase both the number and scale of projects, strengthening the available resources in mechanical and electrical engineering, programming, robotics, manufacturing, assembly, and commissioning. This expanded structure will reduce reliance on external providers and enhance our ability to respond to peaks in activity, international projects, or installations with particularly tight deadlines.

After-sales “Service” and Industrial Maintenance

Another strategic focus of the operation will be the synergy between Teknics’ “Service” and Gurpea’s expertise in industrial maintenance.

Teknics’ “Service” after-sales team will continue its operations and maintain close ties with customers, while Gurpea’s industrial maintenance management structure will enable a gradual expansion of support and assistance capabilities.

The group is thus strengthening a model based on the comprehensive integration of the industrial project, from conceptualization and engineering through manufacturing, programming, assembly, commissioning, service, and subsequent maintenance of the facilities.

A common industrial platform for larger-scale projects

The acquisition consolidates Gurpea Group’s presence in Catalonia and advances the creation of a common industrial platform capable of integrating engineering, manufacturing, automation, service, and industrial maintenance capabilities within a single structure.

Teknics’ facility in Barcelona has become a strategic asset for the growth of the group’s engineering business, allowing it to maintain its expertise and experience while gaining access to a significantly broader industrial and technical infrastructure.

The transaction will make it possible to leverage the synergies between Teknics’ long-standing capabilities and the Gurpea Group’s resources, share knowledge among the various teams, and expand the capacity to develop projects from Catalonia that target both the domestic and international markets.

A New Industrial Era for Teknics

Teknics is embarking on a new phase after three years under management linked to an investment fund and with a primarily financial focus, which led to a complex business situation for the company.

Joining Gurpea restores Teknics’ industrial corporate leadership, enabling it to better understand customer needs and provide concrete solutions to their production and technology challenges.
